Blasphemous offers a dark, atmospheric experience that combines challenging gameplay with rich, gothic storytelling. Set in the cursed land of Cvstodia, the game immerses you in a world steeped in religious horror and elaborate lore. The Metroidvania-style exploration is both rewarding and punishing, with intricate level design and a vast array of interconnected areas. The combat is precise and demanding, requiring skillful use of weapons and abilities to overcome a variety of grotesque enemies and formidable bosses. The hand-drawn art style and haunting soundtrack enhance the game’s oppressive and unsettling atmosphere. With its blend of tough, satisfying combat and deep, immersive world-building, Blasphemous is a standout for fans of challenging action-platformers and dark fantasy.
Visually and artistically stunning. The gameplay is great and the difficulty of it its in the perfect point between motivating and frustrating. Its got an amazing twist that makes it an amazing experience. Would 10000% recommend!
nothing to say, the game is really a piece of art... the way they incarnate the word "blaphemous" in every way possible is amazing and they really stick to that consept in every little detail they add
  • art style
  • map connection / shortcuts
  • boss designs
  • a little confusion from time to time (to where should i go)
This game is great fun. Feels good to play a retro-style game that is actually good and not garbage coated in nostalgia. It can be a little tough but it's a very nice challenge. The artstyle is also very nice and creative.
  • Price

Metroidvania - Middle Ages Catholicism Edition with FANTASTIC pixel art, an impressive soundtrack and intricate worldbuilding. Gameplay is very uninspired, but does the job to get your attention to what truly matters.

9/10 would die to spikes again.
  • Fantastic pixel art.
  • Impressive soundtrack.
  • Metroid-vania gameplay with simple, fun mechanics.
Simply amazing. The concept alone behind this game is genius: metroidvania, souls like and inquisition/blasphemy all at the same time in a very grim atmosphere? Simply spot on.

If I had to make a paragon, I'd say the gameplay feels very similar to Hollow Knight, although there are many subtle differences in movement and combat that distinguish it as unique and original.

Doesn't take too long to finish if you're not really concerned about the side quests and stuff, although you should, beacause there are hidden gems of bosses and areas if you explore a bit.

Overall a great experience, would recommend to any dark corrupted world metroidvania enjoyer who also aims for a challenging experience while not being painfully difficult.

A solid 9.5/10, would buy again.
  • Graphic and world. Pixel art is exeptional
  • Atmosphere and story, they stuck with me in a very unique way
  • Combat system, simple and enjoyable throughout the whole game
  • Can be very frustrating at times
  • Couple of BS bosses and areas, but nothing major
  • Lots of backtracking and running around until you unlock checkpoint warps
