Description

Football Manager 2023 for PC is, as it looks, a football management simulation game, fully licensed by UEFA (down to club competitions for the first time), and – also for the first time – with a nod to the woman’s game, which is down to be included in a later version of the game, the relevant agreements by all parties having been made.

About the Game

Getting your European club to the biggest tournaments possible should be something memorable that makes you, as manager, feel special. And the developers have worked hard for this to be a feature of the game.
When approaching all of the upgrades, enhancements and functionality relating to UEFA Club Competition licensed assets, the development team aimed to recreate the UEFA Club Competition look and feel. And they have captured the excitement generated by those big competitions and celebration of successful underdogs, sleeping giants and, of course, the best of the best.
The team has worked closely with UEFA – replicating the accuracy of FM22’s Bundesliga experience – so that pre-match line-ups and scoreboards look just like they do on TV, no matter whether you’re playing in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League or UEFA Super Cup.
Likewise, graphics for goals, cards and substitutions have all been updated to incorporate the relevant UEFA Club Competition branding. And in matches themselves, you’ll notice a few other immersive touches that take you to the heart of the action.
These include distinct walkout cutscenes (and music) to kick off UEFA Club Competitions before the opening whistle as well as a bespoke camera angle. The attention to detail to try and make the games as special as possible even goes as far as having the branded official match balls for the competitions – a small but significant detail for purists to enjoy.
At the end of the season with all those big finals, each tournament will have unique podiums for the trophy presentations, while the authentic trophies have been beautifully rendered. Additionally, media interview and conference backgrounds have been updated to reflect UEFA’s array of partners.

The Nitty Gritty

Cup draws are a big part of the new revamped system. To give the draws themselves the feel of being like the real-life ceremonies, they’ll now have an official host. During the draws, there are two main screens: Live Draw and Overview, each of which has their own advantages so you can flick between the two as you prefer.
Viewing the Live Draw will allow you to watch the draw unfold in real time, with the host providing clarity on who can’t be drawn in a certain group (two teams from the same nation, for example). The Overview tab, meanwhile, will show the current state of play across the groups and the teams that are left to be drawn. There is a similar format for all the draws, whether you’re looking ahead to the Group Stage or gearing up for the quarter finals.

What Else is New to FM23?

Amongst other features to explore, look out for the following:
  • As mentioned above, the UEFA competitions are all fully licensed

  • Recruitment has been rejuvenated

  • Fans now come in six different ‘flavours’, ranging from: Hardcore: The most loyal and passionate section of the fanbase; Core: Representing the average football fan; Family: These supporters tend to be temperate and patient; Fair Weather: Fans who are especially impatient for success; Corporate: Most interested in the stadium’s facilities and club marketability, and; Casual: Less passionate and loyal than the average fan

  • There is a Dynamic Manager Timeline (DMT) system which allows you to track your progress, remember points you want to (players to watch, for example) over 50 event game types to track, you will use your DMT a lot

  • Improvements have been made to match AI and animation (gameplay is more realistic with many more exciting and realistic moves now possible that were not available before)

  • Football Manager 2023 for PC is available for purchase on Instant Gaming for a fraction of its retail price. You will receive an official key and be able to play the game in seconds. Play smart. Pay less.
