Good game, hard, challenging, makes you have to think about how to use the enviornment to your advantage, what weapons and spells to use with that enviornment. While all of this is super cool it makes combat really slow, not a problem if you have time!
  • Deep RPG Roots
  • Lots of mechanics
  • Combat is challenging
  • Save system sucks
  • Money is hard to come by
Divinity Original Sin is an amazing old-school RPG. It has a lot of content and a very rich lore. There are plenty of side-quest's to keep you busy if you want to take a break from the main story.
  • Good story
  • A lot of content
  • Good combat mechanics
  • Nice graphics
  • A bit to slow
For those who are new to the divinity series and Larian studios, Divinity Original Sin(OS) is a old school rpg.
Unlike the first two in the series the combat is now turn based and unlike the third (divinity 2), isometric rather then 3rd person.

And to be fair all the better for it.

OS is beautiful and intelligent game, with a lot of charm. Its very much story driven and does require a certain amount of player investment in following its intricate plot. Yes there's going to be plenty to read and lots of dialog to get through, but its mostly well written and enjoyable.

The world is incredibly interactive and one can spend an age just messing around with your inventory, crafting and experimenting with the items you find.

One important point to make is that OS does not hold your hand like many modern rpg's, it can at times feels a little overwhelming but with a little bit of reading and some lateral thinking the solution will present itself.
And talking of Solutions, there are often many different ways to achieve most things in the game, so creativity is often encouraged.

OS absolute win for me is the co-op multiplayer, its incredibly fun and entertaining to play with a friend.
It is however a slow game and although screenshots may bring Diablo comparisons it does not share its pace.

So in summary:

+beautiful specially spell effects
+fun turn based combat
+awesome co-op
+lots of dialog and story
+very interactive world and items
+lovingly crafted and mostly bug free now
