As others have stated, Nexus is an enjoyable, albeit janky. good time. The beginning definitely feels like what The Expanse: The Game would be, and that's awesome. The ship designs are simple but excellent. The physics are mostly good; I know in space there would be no exhaust trails but oh well. The gameplay is also mostly fantastic. I would say a big negative is many mission designs are annoying or clunky. The AI seems to change randomly between missions; smartly focus firing your ships, destroying them and causing mission resets, or spreading fire at random, allowing you to easily tank for extended engagements. Some missinos hinge on you doing a specific thing that can get derailed easily. The story devolving into the typical sci-fi macguffin searches to stop the galaxy-ending threat is also a bit of a let down. Some people also complain about the voice acting; I think it's fine. It's way better than some of the soulless crap that big studios push out now. All together I would classify Nexus as a hidden gem that definitely deserves either a sequel or a remake. You can tell the dev team believed in this game, tried to make it something great, and mostly succeeded on what was likely a limited budget.
  • Gameplay
  • Ship designs
  • Fun for space combat fans
  • Difficulty spikes
  • Sci-fi trope-filled story
Useful?
good storyline. Wish it had continued as imperial galatica 3. but good save, and great space battles.
  • space battles
  • cool weapons
  • good story
  • only focusing on the storyline
  • can be difficult to control the ships
  • some of the functions is frustrating to use
