Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a new era of the addictively unforgiving extraction shooter. In corrupted backwaters lost to history, fight back alone – or with friends – against timeless evil. Twisted monsters and other ruthless Hunters stand between you and your Bounty. Risk everything as Hunt consumes you.

Take rich bounties and kill anyone that tries to stop you – and they will try. Race competing Hunters to track down bosses, send them to hell, claim their bounty, and fight your way to extract. If others only slow you down, go alone. If you find strength in numbers, take up to two teammates along.

Risk everything to unlock dark powers and forbidden wealth. Every bullet counts. Every wound hurts. And every death is permanent. But if you succeed, every victory will be unforgettable.

Hear footsteps squelch in the mud as you wait with bated breath to strike. The world speaks. Every gunshot is a message; every howling dog a klaxon. Gramophones murmur with the haunting melodies of Port Sulphur Band. Listen, and you might live to die another day.

Keep striving for more, the world is always growing. Frequent updates challenge you with new Events, expand your arsenal of weapons, introduce new characters, and offer the chance to get ornate rewards. Join the thriving Hunt community, stay informed, and get an edge over the Corruption.

An amazing PvPvE game, highly recommend playing with a friend. Takes a while to learn your orientation via sound only but it's worth it! I played for about 30 hours and I finally tried solo. It seems teams of 2 or 3 ppl are proffered but you can have fun hunting solo as well.
  • PvPv3
  • A bit of a learning curve
The game’s intense atmosphere, great graphics, and unique mechanics make it a fun and challenging shooter.

One of the best things about Hunt: Showdown is the intense atmosphere it creates. The maps are filled with tension as you sneak around trying to find the perfect spot to ambush your opponents. The enemies are also varied, providing a challenging test as you face off against humans, monsters, and more. The weapons are also great, and the sound design helps to create an immersive experience.

The graphics in Hunt: Showdown are also fantastic. The maps are detailed and look great, and the enemies are equally impressive. The game runs smoothly on most systems, and the visuals are top-notch.

The unique mechanics also make Hunt: Showdown stand out from other shooters. You can earn points by completing objectives and killing enemies, and you can use these points to upgrade your weapons and gear. This adds a nice layer of strategy and encourages players to think ahead.

The game also has a steep learning curve and can be intimidating to new players. Additionally, the game’s matchmaking system can be unreliable at times and can lead to long wait times before being able to join a match.

  • Game dont work
Great game! One of the best pvpve fps games I've ever played. After a year and over 550 hours in the bayou, I can tell this game is one of my all-time favorites. It takes some time to get the hang of it (over 70 + hours) and appreciate all the subtilities of its gameplay but it is worth it.

  • Skill based game
  • The sound design
  • pvpve
  • graphism (engine update on the way)
  • Too many dlcs (they are only skins for your hunter)
absolute amazing game, one of the best tings about this game is the dev is CRYTEK and they prolly gone never stop updating this amazing piece of gaming history

the mix of PVP with PVE is especially very cool done in this game, you can go Solo & hunt some monsters/zombies whatever or go full fledged team with tarkov like loadout hunting other players down up until the very last stand
  • Atmosphere is insane in this
  • Horror Game with PVP AND PVE
  • RPG Features
  • Its sooo dark

My friends recommend me this game, i love all kinds of BR games, even tho this game is not exactly BR from what i've heard.

i know Crytek will deliver, Crytek has always done that before, so that's why i'm making this "pre-review".

Can't wait to download to finish, get in the game and get sucked into awesome game this most propably is.

i've watched plenty of footage of this game, and it is pretty solid, few bugs here and there but nothing major.

if anything worries me, it is this; can my pc handle it? x) i sure hope it will.

Bought this game a couple of days ago and I already have over 10 hours in it, it’s so fun to play. I was very ify because the price was kind of a lot, but this site made my pocket hurt a little less so I’m definitely happy with this purchase
This game is an absolute beauty. With having over 1500 hours so far and still loving it. This game does take a bit to learn, so if you do plan on buying it it can be a bit.

The community is probably one of the greatest things about the game. In the 2 years of playing, I have created some of the greatest friendships i could ask for.

Definitely would recommend this game.
One of my all time favorite games to play, I am always down to hunt!

An awesome western adaptation to battle royales with so much amazing elements implemented. It can take a while to learn to love it, but it's truly an awesome game to add to your library.
  • satisfying gameplay
The grind is fucking UP MY GUYS!

This is the best BattleRoyal there is, playing it is really a experience to make.

The gameplay is clean, the graphics awesome, there are 0 Bugs I EVER experienced and there is nothing you can’t learn to play with

(weapons and gadgets -there are a infinite number of plays to do with them- are meant here -to truly abuse the Effekt of dynamite f.e.).

The whole ambient of a world in Wild West style, with fucking ZOMBIES AND FUCKING CREATURES straight from damn Hell, is awesomely rounded up by the variety of weapons to choose from and combos to play.

The PVPVE just makes everything better.

The sweat is real, you will question your life’s meaning when you loose a hunter but that makes every kill you do just more satisfying and amusing.

I can only recommend this game as a Darksouls-lvl hard Battleroyal to win but as soon as you are into it, fun will come by just loading into the game!
  • PVPVE is greatly optimized
  • Graphics
  • Questioning your sanity when u fight the spider with enemys nearby…
  • It first feels discouraging to loose a good lvl Hunter
Great atmospheric game while playing with headphones. Ambience and sounds are great.

Right now there are 4 bosses.

Plenty of weapons and choices.

In game text chat and voice chat are seen or heard by other players in close.
  • Graphics
  • Ambience & Sound
  • Atmosphere
  • Sometimes unstable servers
The game itself has a special and original atmosphere and this is something that is missing in many games today

The gameplay is really decent, even optimization, the western concept is really nice and you can play with more players
  • Gameplay and environment
  • atmosphere and overall concept
  • low level vs. tall can tease
The maps are beautiful - I mean it's from crytek, what else is there to say.
The weapons are great and you can't spray with your gun until you hit a headshot.
The mechanic that you'll lose your hunter after your death, might seem annoying in the beginning but it's really not. As long as you had a somewhat decent match, most likely you'll still look back and think "what a great hunt!"
  • constant support
  • relaxed playerbase
  • map design
  • minor de-syncs
one of the best tactical fps out there slow paced lengthy bounty missions very good for solo or with some friends i enjoy every second of it and i recommend this game even if you are unfamiliar with the gentre
  • astonishing visuals
  • sound design
  • good gameplay
  • minor bugs
It's definitly worth it's money I'd say. After 1000hrs I still like to play the game. Even tho i'm getting extremly salty, because of the player that exaggerate it with the camping. Also the updates are often really pathetic.
  • - very special bounty hunt mode
  • - slow and balanced weapons
  • - horror-theme fits perfectly into the game (creating a good atmosphere)
  • - no advantages if you pay real money (no pay2win)
  • - amazing skins
  • - some bugs (but they will fix it for sure and they dont destroy the game)
  • - hard for beginners
  • - with that special game mode are coming special problems: you can camp the whole round, wait until the most people are dead and then go for the bounty and you have with (for example) 2 kills way more profit than the team that have done 8 kills and killed the bounty. You can say it's "tactic", but for me it's just garbage.
  • - pve and pvp are not balanced (reward system) killing players is not really worth it and in the broadest sense not necessary. you can kill a player or just a meathead and you have almost the same amount of xp. casually said: if you show your balls and go for the kills, the game gives you a punch in your face. Players give you the most EP yes, but what does that give you when you die and you get the half of the EP
  • - that's still nothing and 50 bucks per hunter are really useless.
This is a Genre changing FPS. There is no rush like it. and it is brutal. The learning curve is steep but if you just play it becomes so rewarding. The devs are outstanding and active. If your looking for an intense, tactical, immursive, eerie, Coop/solo FPS experience then get this game.
  • One of a kind
  • Great Gun play
  • immersive Setting.
  • minor bugs but active devs fixing.
Overview
Hunt Showdown is one of the most unique shooters available in the market right now. It is a battle royale-esque, monster hunting, atmospheric survival shooter. I know that description sounds vague, but I will elaborate on it later. It is an early access game, so expect some bugs that will be ironed out in due time. The question is - is this game worth buying right now?

Ready to go hunting?
Genre Defining
That is a term that I feel describes Hunt Showdown the best. What do I mean? I gave a fairly vague description of the game above, but in all honesty that is probably only way to describe the game, because it is all of those things. If you were to ask me what genre this game is, then I would find it impossible to name one particular genre. This game is so many things combined into one awesome package; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Okay, so what exactly do I do in this game?
As for what you do in this game, it’s a bit complicated. You go into a game with your character. There are also 9 other players who spawn in, including one teammate. You will spawn with four other players if you are playing solo. Your job is to try and hunt down a monster to complete your “bounty” mission. Your first step is to locate the monster by visiting various named locations around the map and finding clues, which will slowly direct you to the monster. Once you find the monster, you kill it. Then you “banish” the monster (erase its corpse), collect the loot, and extract. Simple, right? Wrong. When you are banishing, your location is revealed to the other players. You will also attract attraction from AI monsters, which are just as scary. Then you will be hunted and ambushed by other players as well as monsters, and you’ll have to fight your way to extract safely.

This can’t be a game, it looks real!
The things that immediately stand out about this game are the graphics and world design. It is a stunning game and with great ambient sounds and sound effects, does a wonderful job of making you immersed. If you choose to play in a night map, then you will get goosebumps and feel terrified as if you really were in a swamp with nightmarish monsters at night. They’ve done a terrific job in creating the atmosphere for the environment. On that note, even when traversing this gorgeous world, you have to be very careful due to the emphasis on sound in this game to pinpoint enemies. Trying to make your way through the woods? Then better make sure not to step on any branches, as they will give away your position. Walking through some ruins? Careful, if you step on some glass, then enemies will be hot on your tail. You literally have to think about your next step and that creates for tense gameplay moments, which is what makes it such a great experience!

A meaningful progression system
There is an overall account progression system in. This is something lacking in pretty much every battle royale game. Thankfully, in Hunt Showdown, you actually feel like you are doing something to progress even when you aren’t winning games all the time. You play as a “Hunter”, and gain xp throughout the game. If you your hunter dies, then you lose all of your gear as well but retain the xp. Then, you have to buy a new hunter and outfit them with new gear. As you level up your hunter, you gain perks like more health, better weapons, and better accuracy. You don’t need to win a game to gain xp, so you can just kill some AI monsters, find some clues, and extract just to level up the hunter. This makes each game slightly different. Are you low on cash? Then you better just try to get in and get out as quick as possible without attracting too much attention from other players. This adds an extra layer to the game and can also add to the suspense with high stakes.

Too good to be true?
As for the negatives, there are a few. Most of them are expected to be ironed out quickly, having been outlined in the developer’s roadmap for the game. The two main issues you may encounter are: the optimization/network issues, and the lack of content. The optimization issue is high on the devs' list and is being tackled actively. So, don’t expect it to be too much of an issue. As for the issue with content, there are only two bosses right now. While this is enough to keep you engaged for quite some time, but if you get really hooked into this game, you can burn out on it quickly. That being said, this is something the devs have mentioned on their roadmap and should be fixed in the future as well.

Summary
Hunt Showdown does a lot of things right. It has a lot to offer to a wide variety of people with different tastes. The odds are there is something in this game that will get you hooked, even if it is something like just looking at the gorgeous world. If you are planning on playing this game with a friend, then this game is definitely a must buy. For those planning on playing solo, while it is still worth it, I’d advise you to make friends in game. Playing with a teammate is where the game truly shines at and is the definitive version of this game. I’d rate the game 7.5/10 in its current state, but as the game approaches full release, with bug fixes and additional content, this game can easily be a 9+.

it's a Crytek game. therefore i'm certainly sure that the graphics and technical aspect is top notch even i haven't yet played the game. Hopefully the game will succeed also when out of early access.
