Description

Tannenberg brings the massive battles of the Eastern Front in WW1 to life with 64 players fighting for control of key sectors of the battlefield, each one offering a distinct strategic advantage. Warfare between the Russian Empire, Germany, and their allies offers a fresh experience for first person shooter players and history enthusiasts alike.

There are seven squads, 50+ weapons, eight large maps that give players tactical freedom, and a 64 player game mode with full AI bot support so you can experience epic battles at any time! Everything has been recreated with the same attention to detail seen in Verdun, the first entry in the WW1 Game Series.

This historical game takes place across the lakes, forests, mountains and snowy plains of the Eastern Front - it was inspired by the Battle of Tannenberg in 1914, one of the most iconic encirclement battles in history. Players will be able to master a range of authentically modelled equipment brought to the field by Russian Frontovik and Cossack squads, the renowned Latvian Riflemen, or the Roumanian infantry squad. Alternatively they can join the Central Powers to serve in an Austro-Hungarian K.u.K. unit, with the German Infanterie, or in the Bulgarian rifle section.

Tannenberg offers several game modes - including the exciting Maneuver game mode reflecting the nature of war on the Eastern Front, as 64 players battle across large maps where the objectives and battle lines are always shifting. Survive the deadly battles by working together with your four man squad and utilizing your distinctive skills. There is a wealth of historical detail including realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on real battlefields.

Tannenberg key features include:

  • Authentic WW1 atmosphere; accuracy in everything from maps and weaponry to uniforms
  • Tactical squad-based FPS; play as Russian, Roumanian, Latvian, Austro-Hungarian, German and Bulgarian troops
  • Wide-ranging landscapes; large maps each with weather variants from snow to summer sun
  • 64 player Maneuver game mode; capture strategic sectors in grand battles of movement
  • Never fight alone; squad gameplay and AI bots for Maneuver so you can join epic battles at any time

WW1 on the Eastern Front

It’s all-out war on the Eastern Front! From artillery barrages and poison gas to the deadly heavy machine gun and hard-hitting rifle, there are many weapons to master. The battlefield is a dangerous place – lead your shots, keep your eyes open, and be ready to engage in ferocious close combat at any moment.

Tannenberg’s Maneuver game mode captures the essence of warfare on the Eastern Front, with 64 players, large open maps, and the freedom to choose which sectors you will attack and defend. Just make sure you don’t get outflanked and encircled before you can do the same to your enemies!

Authentic World War 1 Setting

The WW1 Game Series currently includes Tannenberg, Verdun set on the Western Front, and Isonzo, which is set on the Italian Front. These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines.

We recreate the atmosphere of the Eastern Front with the same level of accuracy as seen in Verdun. Extensive research has been conducted, with uniforms recreated to the tiniest detail and weapons modelled to exact references. The maps use realistic props and terrain layouts based on locations from the hilly forests of Galicia to Polish villages subjected to scorched earth tactics and more!

Its a really good and fun game. WIth friends it's even more fun and it feels really realistic. That class system the game uses is a good idea because that way you dont have 32 enemis that are all just playing as snipers and you get a good ammount of different classes.
  • Fun Gameplay
  • Graphics are also good
  • good map design
  • No kill cam
  • some hit boxes are confusing
  • sadly dead servers
Great game with good gameplay features! You take part in the eastern front of the World War I. You can play as the Latvian Riflemen in Russian Empires Army as part of the Entete or as Bulgarians in the Central powers team. Only problem is that there aren't many people playing this game :(
  • Multiplayer
  • Different Classes
  • Equipment choices
  • Not big community
Horrible to say the least. Dead servers filled with bots, airstrikes nearly impossible to get unless you get tons of kills in a row. Bots too easy to kill, no players whatsoever so it's pretty much you with a team full of bots vs the enemy team that is full of bots
Good game that is realistic and fun at the same time. It has diversity with guns, factions and maps but unfortunately a low player base. With additional player the game could be even better. Still the price is justifiable for such a bargain.
  • Realistic
  • Fun
  • Easy
  • Low player count
It's a pretty good WW1 FPS Multiplayer game, everything mechanically is pretty solid, but the game is unfortunately on it's way out or dying. only around 200 to 250 players on steam.

It has bots to fill in the players so at least you will have something to play if there are no players on lol.
  • Realistic WW1 FPS
  • Easy to use, User Interface
  • Good for an Indie title
  • Low Player Count
  • Only Multiplayer (so when it dies, it's really dead.)
For the price this game is a BANGER!
VoIP works really well.
You can get into a bunch of servers till this day.

Also if you play a little bit more with this game, till you get bored.
It would be much better to leave this game behind, than the other ones.
Because I've bought Hell let loose and Post Scriptum aswell, but now I just want to play with Squad or Insurgency Sandstorm again.

But if you are really liking this game, you could spare some money and buy: Post Scriptum! :)
  • VoIP works.
  • You don't have to edit the Config.cfg to make the game look and run good.
  • Nothing really, for this price, I just couldn't get annoyed by anything.
Tannenberg is an authentic World War 1 FPS title. The authenticity of the game is taken seriously by the developers. Here, the guns truly feel like they are from an age long ago with lower accuracy and rate of firing, and not just reskinned modern guns. You also have iconic trench battles from World War 1. The maps are also set in pretty iconic locations in the eastern European front of the war.

This game is not like the many popular run and gun games of today like Call of Duty and such. You will die, a lot. Then, you will get better over time and learn to take the good fights and avoid the bad ones. Tannenberg is a difficult game, but it is all worth it for how rewarding it can be. It is certainly a breath of fresh air when every shooter feels the same; you run around spraying your gun, hoping you to kill as many people until you die, and then respawn and repeat. The game punishes you for dying, and you will have to get better to stop dying. The guns do justice to the time period they were from. The machine guns are slow and mounted. Firing accurately with guns is difficult as there are no scopes. There is a lot of trench combat, and you will be in mud for most of the game. This is not pseudo-realistic like the previous Battlefield game. If you want to see what World War 1 was like, then this is the game for you.

However, there are still a few issues with the game. The most glaring one being that the graphics are really bad. It looks like the game was made a decade ago when it was made last year., and this was not an aesthetic choice. Hopefully, they can polish up the game a bit, but it is unlikely that they will completely overhaul how the game looks. The other big issue is that the servers aren’t populated often, so the game will be filled with bots. This can be a good thing since you can experience the game even if there are no other players, but at the same time, facing bots in a PvP game only takes away from the experience. On top of these two issues, there are some smaller bugs and issues, but being an early access title those should be ironed out by the time of full release.

An authentic WWI shooter from the creators of Verdun, Tannenberg, set on the eastern front, features a punishing but rewarding combat system that suffers from poor graphics and a small player base. In its current state, I would suggest waiting a bit to see if it improves, or wait until its full release to buy it. Still, if you want to experience an authentic World War 1 shooter and have some money to spare, then you should get this as it is fairly cheap. If you have a small gaming community and maybe can organize play sessions, then it is highly recommended as long as you can looks past the graphics. If you get this game, expect it to be different from other shooters. It’s not done different for the sake of being different; the rewards of surviving such a challenge with your skills and teamwork is immensely satisfying.

As it stands, this game is a 7/10 and can be a 8 if you play with a bunch of friends.
