Even after Square Enix promising a major update to be in line with Final Fantasy XIII-2, it still runs absolutely terribly.
I have a decently-spec'd system: i7, GTX 780ti, 16GB RAM, but I don't think that matters so much. I believe this is one of the poorest ports I've seen since the original Dark Souls.
Production values, like most FF games is outstanding, I'll give it that. The fact that they re-synced the lip movements for English audio is a very, very nice touch.
Music isn't the best I've heard from the franchise, but still adds something to the experience.
The battle sequences are actually quite interesting, and you only actively control one character at a time. I take my hat off to the devs for tying to mix it up a little. I think it works quite well.
I haven't played through too much yet, but it does appear to be very linear (in line with most reviews you'll read). The story so far is OK, but not earth-shattering.
Some of the characters are quite annoying, however I think that's just the way it is with JRPGs. Maybe I'm just getting older!!
Overall worth a look, but don't expect great PC performance, in fact, expect a lot of issues even launching. If you're a fan of FF, go for it. If you're not a huge fan and are looking for something new to play over Christmas, don't bother!
