Description
Tera - which is short for The Exiled Realm of Arborea – is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) with a lively mixture of fantasy, strategy and skill game features.
In the beginning, in this universe, there were two titans of unimaginable power, Arun and Shara, who met in a formless void. Somehow, these two mighty titans fell asleep and the Realm of Arborea grew up around them from their dreams, with twelve god-like inhabitants coming along fairly quickly after the establishment of the region.
As with any group of highly powerful individuals, war soon broke out between these gods. However, Arun and Shara’s dream-state continued and produced a new race, this time of mortals. Arun and Shara still exist in the present, their bodies forming the game’s location of The Exiled Realm of Arborea.
Before the game begins, the mortals and gods fought viciously, resulting in the gods variously being diminished, imprisoned or killed. Some of the mortal races perished too, but others thrived, rising and succeeding in all their endeavours (see below for more).
The game contains the standard MMORPG actions such as questing, crafting, and PvP (Player versus Player) missions, albeit with an out-of-this-world space-fantasy setting.
You play as one of seven races of the realm. All these races are allied with the Valkyon Federation, a force for harmony between the peoples of TERA. Within your chosen race, enjoy choosing from one of up to thirteen classes (berserker, reaper, priest and so on) all with their own unique abilities and attributes.
During the game you will fight BAMs – which is short for, genuinely, Big Ass Monsters – and explore multiplayer battlefields, scavenge for loot in dark dungeons or enjoy open world exploration, interspersed with PvP battles. In the gameplay, players must actively dodge attacks so you must learn defensive as well as offensive manoeuvres.
The Amani of Kaiator: Fierce and warlike, the Amani have since learned to value peace, becoming noble and honourable people, who make fabulous allies
The Wandering Bakara: Famed for their size and strength, these giants have an intellect to match – they are known for their tremendous calm and widespread knowledge
The Castanics of Castanica: having formed an unwise alliance with a demon who proceeded to betray them, they are mistrustful and prejudiced. The Humans and the Amani helped them break free of the demon’s influence and got them into the alliance
The Elin of Pora Elinu: they look like little girl bunnies, complete with tails, ears and jumpy attitudes, but are highly intelligent. They aligned themselves with the Poporis to achieve peace – while being more than prepared to fight those who harm nature
The Popori of Pora Elinu: nature guardians, these beings use animal magic and live in harmony with nature, guarding their land from any who might harm it: Poporia is the woodland realm of Pora Elinu
The High Elves of Allemanthiea: arrogant but highly intellectual and previously the pinnacle of civilisation before the War of the Gods at which point their source of power: The Stone of Eternity, was destroyed with terrible consequences – death and destruction, driving the Elves into the pursuit of peace
The Humans of Velika: Founders of the Valkyon Federation which is suing for peace between all the races
Tera is but a dream of the Titans – but a dream can feel like reality, can’t it?
