Total War: WARHAMMER

The Old World echoes to the clamour of ceaseless battle. The only constant is WAR!

A fantasy strategy game of legendary proportions, Total War: WARHAMMER combines an addictive turn-based campaign of epic empire-building with explosive, colossal, real-time battles. All set in the vivid and incredible world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

Command five wholly different races: Bretonnia, the Empire, the Dwarfs, the Vampire Counts and the Greenskins, each with their own unique characters, battlefield units and play style.

Lead your forces to war with powerful Legendary Lords from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles World, arming them with fabled weapons, armour and deadly battle magic; hard-won in individual quest chains.

For the first time in a Total War game, harness storms of magical power to aid you in battle and take to the skies with flying creatures, from ferocious dragons and wyverns to gigantic griffons.

Additional Free Content

Total War: WARHAMMER launched to critical acclaim in May 2016. Since then, a wealth of free content has been added, including the recent addition of Bretonnia as the fifth playable race in the Old World.

As well as this additional race, the rich world of Total War: WARHAMMER has been expanded since release with the inclusion of four new Legendary Lords, brand new units, new Lores of Magic and over 30 bespoke maps for single and multiplayer battle. These updates are available for free to all new and existing players.

Hundreds of hours of gameplay await you at the dawn of a new era. Total War: WARHAMMER brings to life a world of legendary heroes, towering monsters, flying creatures, storms of magical power and regiments of nightmarish warriors.

Lead Extraordinary Races

The Chivalrous knights of Bretonnia, the valiant men of the Empire, the vengeful Dwarfs, the murderous Vampire Counts and the brutal Orcs and Goblins of the Greenskin tribes. Each Race is wholly different with their own unique characters, campaign mechanics, battlefield units and play style.

Command Legendary Characters

March your forces to war as one of 12 Legendary Lords from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles World, arming them with fabled weapons, armour, mounts and deadly battle magic as you uncover their tales through a series of unique narrative quest chains.

Conquer this World

The very first Total War game to feature a fantasy setting. In the Old World Campaign, experience incredible depth and the freedom to conquer as you see fit across a gigantic sand-box map. Crafted from a twisted magical landscape and populated with an incredible array of awesome and deadly creatures, this is your chance to experience fantasy strategy on a scale as yet unimagined.

Unleash the Monsters

The battlefields of Total War: WARHAMMER echo to the swoop and roar of dragons, the bellowing of giants and the thundering hooves of monstrous cavalry. Towering beasts of both earthly and supernatural origin wade into the melee of battle, bringing death to hundreds of lesser creatures at a time.

Harness the Winds Of Magic

Smite your enemies with magical storms, melt their armour, sap their fighting spirit or bolster your own forces with devastating spells that split the sky and consume the battlefield. Rally wizards, shamans and necromancers to your armies and bend titanic and unpredictable energies to your whim.

Watch the Skies

Harass your enemies with Dwarfen Gyrocopters, plunge into their front-lines with terrifying Wyverns and achieve air superiority with a stunning array of flying units for the first time in a Total War game. Entirely new tactical possibilities present themselves as you deploy your winged minions in open battles and jaw-dropping sieges.

What is more, this title will go on to combine with two future sequels and additional content packs to create the largest Total War experience ever. An epic trilogy of titles that will redefine fantasy strategy gaming.

Super fast nice
Perfect game for fantasy, action and war loving people. I can't stop playing it. Since I was a kid I wanted a game exactly like WARHAMMER. So many spectacular and legendary battles can't be found in any other game. Economy management is fine and shouldn't be more difficult.

Fantasy piece from Total War was a slightly dissapointment. I played almost all Total War series, excluded first Shogun. I stayed within every game until now, which means, I am collector of Total War games, since Rome Total War was released. I am still able to play Rome Total War again or datadisk Alexander, because there was deep story of history. In previous pieces you can feel that breath of history, you can imagine how it was. You can feel yourself to be there. But this piece was bit out of expectations.

Elfs, Dwarfs, Orcs, Vampires.. REALLY?! I could invent infinity of another whole fantasy nations with complete culture, customs and units. Childrens could do It with their imagination.. this is enormous cliche.

Diplomatic relations known in advance. Nobody wants to be a friend with Chaos, Beastmens. No men will close a pact with Norsca. Diplomacy is even within technology tree, so you can do only what they wanted you to do. You can unite a Bretonia, because it is easiest way how to win. You have to fight against certain enemy, because they wanted you to do.

In previous Total War games, if I play for Sparta and I want Rome to be my friend, It will be. If I want Rome to be my enemy, it will be. It depend on your diplomacy skills. Here is everything so fantasy, that you build one army, and destroy the whole fantasy world with your hero. You are not afraid to let him fight alone in the middle of war cry, because he is able to wipe out the vast units.

Magic is also something which does not need to be there. I do not have time to check stupid points for one witch, and when is charged, I have to mark up a place and fire. Between this time battle layout changed three times!!! I need to command a army, not one witch!
  • Epic battles with monsters
  • Medieval knights, chivalry, kingdoms, ritters. Brettonia
  • Story, which takes away a freedom of choice
  • Diplomacy, foretold behaviour of nations
  • Cliche nations, Dwarfs, Orcs, Elves ..
  • Monotonous battles with chaos
Total War is an amazing franchise. For those of you unaware, Total War games take place in 2 parts. One part is on a giant map where you control your army; it is like a board game phase where you can trade, negotiate, etc. The other part is the combat phase with RTS style battle. A lot of people are put off from RTS thinking that they have to be very quick with a high APM to enjoy, but that is not the case with the Total War games.

This one is set in the Warhammer universe and has fantasy elements from the said universe. You can play as 4 different armies with varying playstyles: The Empire, The Dwarves, The Vampires, and The Greenskins. Playing through the game with different factions feels like a different experience. As an added bonus, this game also has a co-op feature. You can play the game with 1 of your friends, which is definitely an enjoyable experience. The map is gorgeous, and the battles are massive. During the battle phase, you have Hero units like wizards, which adds magic to the medieval war going around. Magic is extremely powerful, with fireballs and lightning able to bring down whole sets of troops. Therefore, it is kept slightly limited to maintain balance. There are a wide variety of creatures from spiders to orcs and even flying units. There are, of course, units exclusive to factions such as bats and vampires. Other than the campaign, you can choose to play custom battles with your own rules and settings. You can even have 2 massively sized and powerful armies just go at each other head on and see what happens! It can make for some memorable moments in the game.

For a game as deep, there aren’t many faults in this game. One of the few minor issues I have with the game would be with the system where you sort of gamble magic points before each battle. These points are needed to perform magic such as the fireball spells, which I have mentioned before. It feels very out of place and unnecessary. One other issue would be that sometimes, you start a battle near a small village or settlement on the map, but when you get into the battlefield for the combat phase, the actual battle takes place in a separate location and not near that settlement or village. This makes strategically choosing certain locations for battle advantage feel useless. Luckily, this isn’t the case when the battle is in a big city. This is a fairly noticeable issue, but it probably won’t bother most people.

Personally, I love RTS games, and I feel that most gamers today haven’t even heard of RTS classics or tried them. This game is a great place to start your way off into RTS games, as it doesn’t put as much emphasis on being fast as other games in the genre. Also, If you are like me and also love board games, you will definitely love this!

Set in the Warhammer universe, Total War: Warhammer offers deep gameplay that relies more on planning and execution making it a perfect entry point for players interested in RTS while also providing a lot of entertainment for returning fans. It is a great addition to the franchise, and is definitely up there among the best in the series. A few issues prevent it from being a perfect 10. A must buy for any fans of RTS or Total War games.

Good game , the heroes, factions, and the overall ambience of the game is great but the combat feels clunky compared to previous total wars, I ended up autoresolving most fights because of this but the game was still enjoyable.
Good total war game with the warhammer universe. Too bad there are so many DLC to buy to have a full game. The main game alone is not a full game and can be repetitive quickly so you need to change the difficulty to have some fun.
  • warhammer universe
  • Good gestion of cities, units...
  • Too many DLC
  • Repetitive campaign
Great game, i really enjoyed all total war series but this one hits the spot for me because i really like fantasy stuff too, this mix is wonderful. In some ways game is simplified but there are some aspects that are more in-depth than other series (very light rpg progress).
a really good game of the fantasy world of warhammer strategically challenging although the game is in need of fine tuning its a very good game overall and most certainly a must have for those who love the total war series and strategy games
  • challenging
  • cant occupy city's of other races
It's the 2nd best total war game (after Shogun 2 of course...). Disclaimer: I am playing with all the DLCs (without them it might be a little bare)
Since I played the first Total war game (Medieval 1) I wondered how cool it would be if they ever make fantasy total war... now I got the answer... it's pretty damn cool...
  • Almost everything
  • Missing matched combat animations
  • Fights are too quick
I got the game really fast, thanks! looking forward to play the game.
But yeah, really recommend the game to anyone who likes these kinds of games.
But this comment has to be a few words longer just to post it.
  • Got the game instant
  • Nothing
total war with monsters. feels like a lord of the rings Apocalypse very fun! you can mod the game if you want to cheat or have visual changes to adapt to your play style or likes.

total war fans will enjoy this game. fantasy fans will enjoy it too. i have no clue about warhammer or the lore. you dont have to enjoy it to play this game. its just a fun war game.

unit differences are many. multiple races to choose from as well.
  • graphics
  • battles
  • massive battles with multiple armies
  • addictive
A great Total War and a great game. If you like the Warhammer universe, then you should buy it. Even if you can see some atrocities like Greenskins proposing peace with Dwarves, the game is excellent.
  • You can feel the Warhammer universe
  • Graphism are good
  • Every races are very differents with different gameplay
  • Creative Assembly DLCs politics is rude.
  • You can't conquer the whole world
one o the greatest game of the 2015. Very funny to play with and you can spent hours of time on it. buy it because is something huge.
And remeber always that le real life is outhere but gaming help us all.
This is a very nice game, featuring stunning graphics and a very efficient artificial intelligence during fights and campaign. The game is higly replayable and offer an elevated number of races to play with.
  • high quality graphics, high replayability
you will spend hundreds of hours with this game, worth every penny. stays true to warhammer lore. simply a gorgeous game that has high fps on mid level graphics cards. total war have out done themselves again
  • true to cannon
  • none
Stellar game. I am a long term fan of Warhammer universe and total war games. This combination rocked both beyond their respective spheres.. I think Total War may have just defined the new height of excellence.
  • Graphics
  • Storyline
  • Races
  • Magic
  • Price
Already on my 3th campaign. The game has great replay value since every race feels different. It is a well balanced world with all the different races and different landscapes. Fun to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of an army. Some lack missile units, Dwarfs don't use magic and horses are to big for them to ride on. and so on.
  • Replay value
  • Balance
  • Hero's
  • Easy enough for new people, hard to master
  • Quest battles
  • Diplomacy (every one hates big empires)
  • Quest battles often on the other side of the world
Dynamic game play, units and graphics are amazing and one of total wars better games and really does display CA capabilities to bring total war into the fantasy genre. This games meets all the requirements of a total war game and then some. While everything about factions in the game is changed with new tech tree types and new units and level systems it still does not take away from the core key elements that we all love so much about total war games, while still meeting the expectations of warhammer fans that have just started total war.
  • Every faction is vastly Different
  • Quest system puts in a sense of personal responsibility for general
  • sieges while smaller have not lost their potiency
  • game can be played on older spec computers
  • AI is still a bit slow in battle
