Description

Steel Division 2: Burning Baltics is the latest History Expansion for Steel Division 2, the popular World War 2 RTS set on the Eastern Front. One of the last major German successful offensives of the war takes center stage in this in-depth expansion: the Axis counter-offensive in the Baltics - Operation Doppelkopf.

It is late summer 1944, and the Wehrmacht is reeling from the massive blows inflicted by the Soviets during Operation Bagration. In the Baltics, the Red Army has reached the Gulf of Riga, severing the connection between Army Group North and what is left of Army Group Centre.

Reestablishing this link with the Latvian capital Riga is the prime objective as several formations, including the elite “Grossdeutschland”, are hastily assembled for an armored counter-attack. Nearby Kriegsmarine heavy cruisers will be able to provide crucial fire support. For once, the Soviets can be taken by surprise...

Steel Division 2: Burning Baltics greatly enhances your Steel Division 2 experience with one massive new Army General campaign, 8 new Divisions playable in solo, coop or multiplayer, 120+ new units, 2 new Nations and 2 new Aces.

MAIN FEATURES:

  • Relive Operation Doppelkopf as the commander of either the attacking German 3. Panzerarmee or the defending Soviet 1st Baltic Front, in a new massive strategic Army General campaign.

  • Create your own battlegroup from 8 meticulously researched Divisions, including 6 Divisions which took part directly in Doppelkopf and 2 Divisions from Army Group North. Take command of the famous "Grossdeutschland" and "Nordland" divisions, the ad-hoc Panzerverband Strachwitz or 52. Sicherungs-Division z.b.V. as the Axis. Take to the battlefield with the Allied veteran 19th Tank Corps, the Mobile Group Fedyunkin, the Estonian 7th Rifle Division or the 43rd Army's Reserve battlegroups.

  • Gain access to over 120 new units, such as the Aufklärungspanzer 38(t) recon tank, the Ar 196 A-3 floatplane, the Soviet MT-13 160mm super-heavy mortar, the BS-3 100mm heavy AT gun, Yer-2 bombers, and much more.

  • Deploy 2 new Aces: the legendary Stuka pilot Hans-Ulrich Rüdel, the most decorated German serviceman ever, in his Ju-87G Panzerknacker, or the flying Soviet general Gueorgui Nefiodovitch Zakharov with his Yak-3 fighter.

  • Experience 2 new Nations: Axis Lithuania and Allied Estonia fully voiced in their own. Latvian troops are also featured but are considered part of the German armed forces in-game.
