About This Game

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.

Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

  • XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
  • RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
  • TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.
  • A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge.
  • RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics.
  • EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals.

Overview
XCOM 2 is a turn-based strategy game set in the fantastic XCOM universe. The premise to the story is that there has been an alien invasion and it is up to you to form a task force and save the human race. The game is a part military, part sci-fi strategy game. It offers slightly futuristic variants of familiar weapon classes to use, depending on the soldiers you recruit. The game also has a base management system where you can upgrade your home base. Doing this offers you more options get new soldiers, to upgrade your soldiers and their weapons and skills so that you can improve your chances for defeating the aliens. .

Breakdown
A modern turn-based strategy game
Right now, there aren’t too many turn-based strategy games. While there are some such as the Divinity games, those are more focused on the narrative rather than purely on strategy like XCOM. As a fan of strategy games, I am thankful for XCOM 2 as it has filled that void, and done so really well. For those of you that don’t know how the game works, you choose a small group from your army to go into a mission, and are given specific goals. Each of your characters are given a certain number of points to move and attack the enemy. You have to spend them wisely as you can’t move after attacking, and you don’t want to leave your soldiers vulnerable. More importantly, the only thing that matters is the objective. You can, AND WILL, lose many soldiers that you get attached to. Maybe your very first soldier will have to be sacrificed at the last mission, or risk failing instead. You better be willing to make sacrifices. This risk-based system isn’t seen in many games these days. Most games will be so easy that you never lose a soldier, and if you do, you can always reset the mission and complete it without having to give anyone up.

A full-fledged base management system
You are given the chance to manage your base, and this mechanic is so feature filled that you would think you are playing a management game. You are in a ship with multiple compartments where you can create wide variety of stations for your army. From tech labs to an armory, it’s all there. There are also benefits to placing certain labs next to each other and this creates its own mini-game of sorts. Some players may not enjoy this, but if you are a fan of strategy games (which this is) you will most likely enjoy this additional layer of strategy and planning.

A weird…restriction?
My biggest gripe with XCOM 2 is this weird time limit restriction on a turn. This forces you to rush a bit which defeats the main attraction for turn-based strategy game fans. While it can add to the atmosphere of everything being urgent and difficult, if you aren’t a fan of that system, there is, thankfully, a solution for that: mods.

MODS!
Mods are one of those things that make PC often the superior platform to play games on, and the game has them in spades. The most important mod, something I feel that everyone should play this game with, is the one that removes the turn time limit. This will make the game a lot more enjoyable and open to multiple playstyles, which should make it appealing to most strategy fans.

A modern classic
As mentioned before, this game is set in the fabled XCOM universe and is a sequel to multiple XCOM games which are considered by many to be classics. XCOM 2 had a lot of expectations to meet, and having played XCOM 2, I can comfortably say that this game is a perfect sequel. It will go down as a classic; a must have in anyone’s steam library. This game does everything right from the previous games while also improving on those systems and adding new ones that fit right in with the theme of the game.

A must buy?
In short, yes this is a must buy. In more words, what are you waiting for, just go and buy it! This is a game I would recommend for everyone, even for newcomers to strategy games as this game has a fairly easy difficulty mode that shouldn’t be a challenge to anyone. When you do scale up the difficulty, you get one tough strategy game that doesn’t pull back its punches when it comes to punishing you, but making through it all is all the more satisfying. The only negative is that you need a separate mod to enjoy the game fully without feeling pressured to rush the game, which some players still might enjoy. It’s a great addition to any gamer’s library, and there’s no reason keep yourself from enjoying it.

Even for it's love-hate situations it still dominates other games with the same genre of gameplay. No game has the magic like XCOM has.

All cool things aside this game only made me frustrated, the main mission event is a time bomb nagging you to stop the enemy project or you're gonna lose the game. The start was awful, I got short on the supplies immediately, therefore I had to skip a few missions so my squad can heal up. Luckily I started getting PTSD flashbacks from the old game and remembered the pattern. I can't imagine how a newbie would feel like playing this game for the first time.

Most of the missions are turns limited, that means that if you overplay the amount of turns you are supposed to play, you will lose the mission and the squad too. Not fun at all. Also, everything depends on the percentage of how successful your soldier's aim will be, that means lots of save/load situations.

Animations are very useless and time consuming, there is a mod that helps you to skip combat animations but somehow it doesn't work for me. After some hours you're just gonna get so sick of it.
  • Gameplay
  • Useless animations
  • Time bomb mission
  • Limited turns in missions
The original XCom - 1994 (X-COM: UFO Defense) was one of my all time favourite games as a young man. Now as an old gamer, this is truly as superb a sequel as one could desire. It encapsulates a lot of really simple ideas and elements into a game which thus becomes easy to play, difficult to master, and hugely replayable. With fantastic customisations, dlcs, modding support and a huge community, it's so much better than I ever envisaged it could be in the 90s, when I wished for more. The collection at 73% off is spectacular value in my view. If you love turn-based strategy games, this is perhaps the best of them all. It's moody and immersive with great camera angles, lighting, graphics and embeds you into its dark world of the future and is instantly addictive. It never stops being fun killing aliens, and one never has to feel bad about it, because you're saving the world.

  • Customisation
  • Map & IA Aléatoire
  • Bonne Histoire
  • Problème de Sauvegardes
  • Sauvegardes de la partie Inutilisable
Its a classic game, I had XCom Enemy Unknown for DOS, we couldn't stop play the game with my friend.
This is and the X COM are the similar feeling but new cool 3D design, I like the characters, the gameplay, the graphic, the feeling.
I really like it, it's a very big mood, so my home modder made the language file available, so I finally got the excellent story . For me, the game was a basic work . Thanks for the price! I'm very happy!
The sequel to 2012's beloved XCOM: Enemy Unknown deals in staple sci-fi storytelling and an excellent refinement of the series' turn-based combat.

Everything comes back to the idea you're leading a rebellion against an inscrutable alien enemy. You're outmanned, outgunned and increasingly running out of time. If you were a fan of Enemy Unknown (and if, like most players, you suffered defeat at the hands of the alien invaders) XCOM 2 looks like it's shaping up to be the perfect chance to strike back.
One of my favorits, I like the XCOM-Series since my childhood, it´s a flashback into the past but with better graphics.
I would buy even a next part of the series, if they develope one more or renew an old.
Grande Jogo, Excelente Historia e qualidade gráfica de todas as missões. Muitas formas de alterar os nossos lutadores pelo mundo livre. Na minha opinião apenas falta mais missões para tornar ainda mais o jogo inesquecível.
  • The story
  • Quality of the game
  • Few Missions
great game. Not as good as XCOM EU but still maintains the core formula that made XCOM series successful. Can be frustrating sometimes as the game is quite hard. But the game itself is awesome with new units and classes. But please don't name the characters with your family name as they will die eventually :P
  • Solid Gameplay
  • Great Visuals
  • Can be hard sometimes.
  • Hardcore XCOM fans may get disappointed.
I love this game since the first one (the original UFO).

I had played more than 50 hours until end it (in easy due to, the game is more difficult than the first one) and realy, I'm thinking to start again :-)
  • best than the first XCOM
  • ..but at least the mouse works betther than the first one
  • where is my pad?
  • a little dificult
Excellent game, can't stop playing. Everything that was good in XCOM 1 was improved in XCOM 2.
Really love the game, you can create your own Character Pool before you launch your game. You can even edit this pool and the new guys will spawn in your current game.

MUST BUY!!
  • everything
  • nothing
An amazing successor to the XCOM throne. This game takes the best elements of the previous game that fans loved and elevates them: the deployment, customization, building your team, storyline and narrative, enemies, everything is better. As a hardcore fan of the previous games, I approve of what Firaxis accomplished here. PC Master Race reigns supreme :D
  • Literally, everything about it. If you loved the previous ones then get ready for more goodness +plus extra goodness
  • Be advised that now (3 days after official launch) the game stutters a bit. It might be because of hardware requirements for your computer, or it can be something that can easily be fixed with a patch (just like Vermintide)
Cannot run it. It crashes every 3-10 minutes of gameplay. I have latest drivers installed. Al games run on ultra settings. I have GTX 980TI, I5, 16GB, game is on SSD. If you go on forums its not only me. Came crashes non-stop only hard reset helps.
  • Amazing game.
  • Unplayable.
(7/2/16)
The game seems to be overall well made.
Great story , improved alot since 'Enemy Unknown' (Which is btw , still , a great game and something you should defo considering buying.)
But sadly I can barely enjoy it with my current GPU , hopefully in the future there will be further optimizations regarding FPS stabilization and FPS drops , i think its absurd I'm experiencing drops here but I can run BO3 or BF4 , Battlefront (etcetc) smoothly.
