Description
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection - Europe for PC is a remastered version of A Thief's End and The Lost Legacy (Uncharted 4 and a spin-off respectively) in which you can play as either Nathan Drake or Chloe Fraser. The third person action adventure games are exciting and immersive and will sweep you away into thick jungles, arid deserts or to the high seas in search of treasure, friends (sometimes enemies) and personal salvation.
We catch up with a domesticated Nathan some years after the events of Uncharted 3. He’s a diver for a salvage company, but we immediately get the feeling that he’d rather be trading gunfire in darkest Peru with any number of PMCs hunting him down.
Elena, his long-suffering partner and one-time camerawoman can tell that he’s not satisfied, but Nathan refuses to give up the normal life he’s finally achieved, even for one last score. That is, of course, until Sam Drake, Nathan’s thought to be dead older brother returns from the grave, and drags Nathan back into the life. Age hasn't dulled this at all, and on PC it looks better than ever.
While Uncharted 4 provides a satisfying conclusion to Nathan Drake's saga, The Lost Legacy is a great accompaniment. It offers yet another high-stakes adventure, but this time from the perspective Chloe and Nadine, who previously served as Drake's companion and adversary, respectively.
Lost Legacy was originally supposed to be DLC for Uncharted 4 before it was spun off into its own game, starring Chloe Fraser from earlier in the series and Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4. Lost Legacy is something of a fan fic of the main franchise in mood – but a worthwhile one.
On a hunt for the tusk of Ganesh, our new duo of Chloe and Nadine butt up against villain, Asav. The Lost Legacy hosts fantastic challenges: giant, mechanical statues that can kill you with their massive weapons. The right path means these weapons miss you, so you need to count the number of moves you can make as these mechanical menaces tick and crunch into place. It's an excellent mix of tension and brain teaser.
Back at ground level you'll be able to take your jeep for a spin. It's more than a convenient way to get around, as the winch can be used to access new areas by opening heavy doors or dragging the vehicle up muddy hills. The Lost Legacy's jeep in particular will give you a great sense of freedom, but the jeep's also a source of some thrills, like the exciting downhill dash in Uncharted 4.
The Lost Legacy builds a relationship between them that is so well-written and performed that you get to see these two in a way Nathan couldn't. They're independent adventurers carrying the weight of family legacies on their backs, without the luck and luxuries of being a Drake.
As they grow from strangers to friends, you come to hope for more dialogue where they explore their pasts, the gossip of what happened between Chloe and Nathan (especially now he's a married man), and how they came to be the fearless women they are now.
Though the adventure isn't as long as Drake's, Lost Legacy has plenty of its own strengths, especially once you start driving around India in your jeep, hunting down treasure tokens for a mysterious reward. The open world-ish exploration means you can take your time with your two heroes, just soaking in all the sights and collecting all the treasure hidden away in the river basin.
Drake and crew are self-confessed thieves, mercenaries, and rogues, with silver tongues and dark pasts. In his wake, history is destroyed one collapsing temple at a time, but in the end he always makes the right choice, which also means he ends up no richer than when he started.
Lost Legacy adds true platonic friendship to the mix, with the relationship between Nadine and Chloe blossoming over the game’s progress.
Stealth provides an alternative to the chaotic shootouts, which saves on ammunition and provides its own satisfying moments, so you can come up with a masterplan while hiding in tall grass. Do these plans always work? Try them and see! But be warned, enemy mercenaries have impossibly good eyesight!
But it's still possible to clear out a whole squad without being spotted, if you're patient enough. During a trip to an Italian mansion, your team has to slink from roof to roof to avoid the guards hunting you, so you're free to pick your own paths across the rooftops rather than just one predetermined by the game. Do bear in mind though, that the occasional deadly trap can complicate these climbing puzzles…
When you're not trying to kill off the competition, you'll spend most of your time climbing, clambering and hanging off precarious perches. The climbing mechanics provide an array of brilliant, tactile puzzles, taking advantage of the environment and architecture a lot better than the recent Assassin's Creeds. Though the routes are often linear, there are still opportunities to chart your own path.
Stealth is important, letting you sneak around and save ammunition and energy by taking out enemies one at a time
Climbing – the game lets you go vertical to gain sight advantages, access entry into guarded buildings and more
Hanging around – literally hanging as you wait for rescue, someone (an enemy) to walk underneath you to break your fall, or to check out your next move
Jumping and clambering will get you over obstacles – but it does make you vulnerable so operate with caution at all times
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection - Europe for PC is available for purchase on Instant Gaming for a fraction of its retail price. You will receive an official key and be able to play the game in seconds. Play smart. Pay less.
